How We Test

Every category on this site gets one specific axis — a fact that's actually checkable and that vendor marketing pages skip over, not a generic star rating.

How we source pricing

Every plan, every price, and every add-on comes from the vendor's own pricing page, read directly — not from a comparison site's summary of it. We've caught search-result summaries quoting the wrong numbers more than once. Every figure carries the date we checked it, and a field we could not verify is left blank, never estimated.

Tested vs. reported

Some claims on this site are our own testing — we did the thing ourselves and recorded what happened. Others are the best documented claim we could find when we haven't done our own test yet, sourced and dated like everything else. A (*) next to a verdict means it's the second kind — reported, not independently verified by us. Check the tool's own section for the source. We'd rather show the best available answer with an honest label than leave the space blank.

The brief: a ten-slide sales deck for a fictional B2B SaaS product, in English, with one chart and one comparison table. The axis: does the exported PPTX file open in PowerPoint with real, editable objects, or is it a flattened image?

Editable
Text and shapes arrive as individual PowerPoint objects. Click one and you get handles: select it, move it, retype it.
Partly editable
Some elements are real objects, others are baked into images. Charts are usually the first thing to go flat.
Flat image
The slide is a single picture. Clicking gives you nothing to grab, and you cannot change a word without going back to the tool.

This is the check most roundups skip, and it is the one that decides whether you can use the output in a real meeting where someone asks you to change a number.

The axis: on the free plan or the cheapest paid plan, does report export come bundled in, or is it a separate add-on purchase on top? We read this directly off each vendor's pricing page — plan names, prices under both monthly and annual billing, and exactly where export capability is gated.

The axis: on the free plan (or the cheapest plan, if there is no free one), are your generations private by default, or can other users view and remix them? We read this directly off each vendor's own pricing comparison table where one exists, rather than inferring it from marketing copy.

Corrections

Pricing and features change quickly. Every post carries a "last verified" date and a change log listing what moved. If something here is out of date or wrong, tell us and we will re-check it. See also our disclosure.
