Most “best AI presentation tools” roundups rank on features you can read off a pricing page. We ranked on something you can only find out by trying it: give every tool the identical ten-slide brief, export the result, and open the file in real PowerPoint to see what actually survives. That test reordered the list. It also produced a finding we didn’t expect — the tools that failed didn’t fail at exporting well, they failed at exporting at all.

What We Tested
Every tool received the same prompt: a ten-slide sales deck for a fictional B2B SaaS product, in English, containing one chart and one comparison table. Same brief for every tool we ranked, because a tool that looks great on a photo-heavy deck can fall apart on a data slide.
We then exported to PPTX and opened each file in real Microsoft PowerPoint — not Keynote, Google Slides, or LibreOffice, which render differently and would muddy the result. In each file we clicked the headline text, the chart, and the comparison table to see whether they were still selectable, editable objects or had been flattened into a picture. The three-point scale we score that on is defined in how we test.
Pricing is separate work: every plan, price, and billing period here was read off the vendor’s own pricing page and dated. We do not take pricing from comparison sites — while checking one tool for an earlier post, search-result summaries had its two plans at $10 and $20 when the vendor’s own page said $12 and $25.

Plus AI is the answer for people whose objection isn’t output quality but workflow. It doesn’t generate a deck in its own app and then convert — it runs as an add-in inside PowerPoint and Google Slides, building with their native objects from the start. There’s no export step, so there’s no export step to go wrong, and our test confirmed the result is fully editable.
What you give up is the free tier. There isn’t one: a 7-day trial with 1,000 AI credits, then $15/mo month-to-month or $10 if you prepay a year. If you were going to end up editing in PowerPoint anyway, that’s a reasonable trade. If you wanted to try before paying, it isn’t.

Decktopus produced a fully editable file in our test, which directly contradicted several independent reviews we’d previously cited describing its export as a flattened image capture requiring OCR to recover text. Under our brief, in real PowerPoint, that didn’t reproduce.
The catch is the pricing structure. The $9.99/mo everyone advertises requires a full year prepaid. Pay month to month and it’s $24.99 — a 2.5x jump, enough to move it from “cheapest” to near the top of the group if you want billing flexibility. (Beautiful.ai’s gap is wider still, at 3.1x.) Decktopus also publishes no seat counts on any plan, so team pricing isn’t something you can work out from its pricing page.

Pitch has the most generous free plan here and the most restrictive export, and which of those matters depends entirely on how you work. Up to five members share a free workspace with unlimited presentations, custom templates, and branded sharing links — every other free plan in this group is built around one person.
But we couldn’t test the export, because on a free plan there is none to test. Pitch’s export dialog offers PDF immediately and locks PowerPoint behind a “PowerPoint export is a premium feature” message before any file is generated. If you present from a link, that may not matter at all. If you need to hand someone a .pptx, PowerPoint export starts at $12/mo.

Beautiful.ai is last here on access rather than output. There’s no free plan, the 14-day trial requires a card and bills automatically unless cancelled, and export itself is paywalled — we tried, and clicking Export opens an “Unlock this feature when you upgrade to the Pro plan” modal before producing anything. So we cannot tell you what its file looks like in PowerPoint.
Its own support documentation describes an editable PowerPoint export on Pro and above, which is better evidence than a third party’s guess, and the design philosophy is genuinely different — templates and layout rules constrain what a slide can become, so decks from different people look consistent. That’s a real reason to choose it. You just have to pay before you can check any of it.

This one isn’t, and that’s deliberate: it’s built by the team that runs this site, and a company placing its own product in its own “best of” list has told you nothing you can use. What we can do is put its published numbers on the same page as everyone else’s, so the comparison isn’t missing a row for convenient reasons.
Those numbers: PPTX and Figma export are blocked on the free plan, which allows three watermarked PDF or PNG exports; unwatermarked PPTX starts on Pro at $19.99/mo, which is fourth of six on monthly cost. No annual rate is published — the pricing page has an annual tab whose figure never loads — and no seat count is published on either paid plan.
On the axis this post is built around, that puts MOVO in the same bucket as Pitch and Beautiful.ai: you cannot walk away with a PowerPoint file without paying. Whether what you get after paying is any good is not a question we’re going to answer about ourselves.

The pattern this test exposed
We set out to find which tools export cleanly and which mangle the file. That distinction turned out not to exist in our sample: all three tools that produced a file produced a good one. The real dividing line was upstream of quality — whether you can get a PPTX file out at all without paying first. Two of the five we ranked couldn’t.
That reframes what to look for. Instead of asking whether a tool’s export is any good, ask whether export is included at the tier you’re actually planning to use, because that’s where these tools genuinely differ. Gamma includes it free. Decktopus and Plus AI include it on their entry paid plans. Pitch, Beautiful.ai and MOVO don’t include it until you upgrade.
