Decktopus vs Plus AI: What Editable PowerPoint Costs

Plus AI is cheaper for one month, while the annual totals are effectively tied. Plus AI Basic costs $15 on monthly billing. Decktopus Pro costs $24.99 for one month, making Plus AI $9.99 cheaper for a short project. Prepay a year, however, and Decktopus costs $119.88 while Plus AI costs $120, a difference of only 12 cents.
Both reached the same measured outcome in our test: editable PowerPoint objects. The workflow is different. Decktopus creates a deck in its own editor and exports a PPTX. Plus AI creates slides inside PowerPoint, so there is no separate export conversion.
The Short Answer
What we compared
We used the same ten-slide test procedure for both products on 2026-08-05. The brief required text, a chart, a comparison table, and a CTA. Decktopus exported those inspected elements as editable PowerPoint objects. Plus AI created them as native PowerPoint objects from the start. This article does not treat either result as a claim about design quality or visual fidelity.
On 2026-09-21, we rechecked the current commercial terms. Decktopus’s official pricing page lists Pro at $24.99 for one month, $19.99 per month when $59.97 is billed for three months, and $9.99 per month when $119.88 is billed annually. Its export documentation says Pro and Business can download PPT files and describes them as fully editable.
Plus AI’s official pricing page lists Basic at $15 per user on monthly billing or $10 per user per month billed annually. It also states that a subscription includes both its PowerPoint and Google Slides extensions. The vendor’s PowerPoint product documentation describes the generated slides as native PowerPoint slides that can be edited like standard slides.
The billing term changes the answer
| Billing choice | Plus AI Basic | Decktopus Pro | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| One month | $15 | $24.99 | Plus AI costs $9.99 less |
| Three months | $45 total on monthly billing | $59.97 prepaid | Plus AI costs $14.97 less |
| Annual prepay | $120/year | $119.88/year | Decktopus costs $0.12 less |
The annual headline rates of $10 and $9.99 per month hide how little separates the actual annual payments. The short-project prices show the opposite pattern. A Decktopus buyer who does not want a year can choose the three-month term, but its $59.97 upfront total is still $14.97 more than keeping Plus AI Basic for three monthly billing cycles.
Native PowerPoint from $15 Monthly
1. Plus AI — Native PowerPoint from $15 Monthly
Plus AI makes PowerPoint the creation workspace. Its current plan table says Basic creates presentations in PowerPoint and Google Slides, and the same subscription includes both extensions. In our PowerPoint test, the text, chart, and table were editable objects without an export step.
Basic costs $15 per user on monthly billing or $10 per user per month with annual billing, which means $120 prepaid for a year. New customers receive a seven-day trial with 1,000 AI credits. Plus AI says a card is required and the selected plan starts automatically after the trial unless it is cancelled.
From $10/mo (annual). No free plan.
- Basic — $15/mo, or $10/mo billed annually · 1 seat
- Pro — $25/mo, or $20/mo billed annually
- Team — $40/mo, or $30/mo billed annually
- Max — $240/mo, or $200/mo billed annually
PPTX export Editable — Tested directly inside PowerPoint using our standard brief. There's no separate export/conversion step to test the way there is for the other tools here — Plus AI generates content using PowerPoint's own native objects from the start, and confirmed testing found everything (text, chart, table) fully editable, as expected from that mechanism.
Pros
- Runs inside Google Slides and PowerPoint rather than exporting to them, so there is no export step to lose fidelity in
- Confirmed editable by our own test — expected given the native mechanism, but verified rather than assumed
Skip it if
- No free plan — a 7-day trial with 1,000 AI credits requires a credit card, then it bills automatically unless cancelled
Editable Export with Three Billing Terms
2. Decktopus — Editable Export with Three Billing Terms
Decktopus uses a separate editor and download step. Its current export guide says a subscription is required and describes the PPT option as fully editable. Our own test reached the same result for the elements we inspected, rather than relying on that vendor description alone.
Pro offers three commitments: $24.99 for one month, $59.97 for three months, or $119.88 for a year. Decktopus’s billing documentation confirms that the full amount for the chosen term is charged upfront and that the displayed price is a monthly equivalent. Its free first deck cannot be exported.
From $9.99/mo (annual). Free plan: First deck is free, but it cannot be exported and carries a Decktopus watermark.
- Pro — $24.99/mo, or $19.99/mo billed every 3 months ($59.97 total), or $9.99/mo billed annually · 1 seat
PPTX export Editable — Tested with our standard 10-slide brief. Exported to PPTX and opened in real Microsoft PowerPoint: slides remained editable objects, not flattened images. This contradicts multiple independent third-party reports we'd previously cited claiming Decktopus's export flattens to a non-editable picture — under our own test conditions, it did not reproduce.
Pros
- PPT export is included on the entry paid tier, not held back for business plans
- Confirmed by our own test — text stayed editable after export, contrary to third-party reports we'd cited
- The current pricing page explicitly identifies Pro as a one-person plan
Skip it if
- The headline $9.99 rate is annual prepay — paying month to month is $24.99, a 2.5x gap
- Business is described as a per-seat team plan, but its price is not published on the pricing page
The decision rule
Choose Plus AI when the job is short or working directly in PowerPoint is the deciding constraint. It is $9.99 cheaper for one month and avoids a conversion step.
Choose Decktopus when its separate creation workflow is preferable and a longer commitment is acceptable. Its annual total is technically lower, but only by 12 cents; that difference is too small to be a useful product decision on its own. The three-month term provides a middle commitment that Plus AI does not publish, though it costs more than three Plus AI monthly payments.

Did ToolFind AI rerun the PowerPoint tests for this comparison?
No. The editability results come from our standard test performed on August 5, 2026. We rechecked both vendors' current pricing and product documentation on September 21, 2026, but did not regenerate either deck or compare design quality, visual fidelity, or credit efficiency.
